Post-surgical rehab in Austin, TX.
The surgery fixed the structure. Rehab rebuilds everything else: motion, strength, confidence, and the ability to trust the joint again. We guide you through every phase, one-on-one, at your pace.
About post-surgical rehab.
Surgery is the halfway point. What happens in the weeks and months after determines the outcome: how much motion you regain, how strong the joint gets, and whether you return to the activities that matter to you. Good rehab is progressive, criteria-based, and matched to your specific procedure and surgeon protocol.
The most common procedures we rehab: knee replacements, hip replacements, rotator cuff repairs, ACL reconstructions, meniscus repairs, and spinal procedures. Each has its own timeline and precautions, and we coordinate with your surgeon's protocol while progressing you as fast as your tissue allows.
The biggest rehab mistake is rushing milestones or stalling too long. Returning to running, cutting, or overhead sport before strength and control are ready risks re-injury. Waiting too long in a brace or on crutches costs motion and muscle that take months to rebuild. Criteria-based progression, tested at each phase, keeps you on the fastest safe path.

What is usually behind it.
Knee replacement
Regaining full extension and flexion, rebuilding quad strength, and returning to stairs, walking, and eventually higher activity.
Hip replacement
Restoring hip motion and glute strength, progressing from walker to independent walking to full activity.
Rotator cuff repair
Protecting the repair early, then systematically restoring motion and rebuilding cuff and scapular strength.
ACL reconstruction
A nine-plus month process of progressive loading, hop testing, and return-to-sport criteria. Rushing this one fails.
Meniscus and arthroscopy
Shorter timelines but the same principle: restore motion, rebuild strength, test before returning to sport.
Spinal procedures
Graduated return to bending, lifting, and activity with close attention to surgeon precautions and symptom response.
Post-surgical rehab care at Forever Forward.
Every plan starts with a full one-on-one assessment. No aides, no hand-offs, no 15-minute sessions. We find what is driving the problem, not just where it hurts, then build your plan around it.
Start with your protocol
A full hour, one-on-one. We review your surgeon's protocol and your current status, then map the phases ahead with clear criteria for each.
Progress by criteria, not calendar
Motion, strength, and control tests decide when you advance. You always know where you stand and what comes next.
Return to your life
Sport, lifting, hiking, playing with grandkids. Final phases test the actual demands of your goals before you are cleared to go.

Straight answers.
How long until I can run or play again after surgery?
It depends on the procedure. Knee replacements: walking quickly, higher activity over months. ACL reconstruction: running around 3 to 4 months, cutting sports at 9-plus months with testing. Rotator cuff: overhead sport after strength criteria are met. We test, not guess.
Do I need PT after surgery, or will it heal on its own?
It heals, but not to full function on its own. Without progressive rehab, motion and strength plateau well below what is possible. The surgery gives you the opportunity. Rehab captures it.
What if I am months out and still not right?
Late starts still work. We assess where you are, identify what phase stalled, and build the plan from there. It is rarely too late to improve.
Will you communicate with my surgeon?
Yes. We work from your surgeon's protocol and keep them updated on your progress, especially at phase transitions and before return-to-activity decisions.
