Plantar fasciitis treatment in Austin, TX.
Stabbing heel pain with the first steps in the morning, easing as you move, aching again after a long day. Plantar fasciitis is stubborn but beatable. We load the tissue back to handling your miles.
About plantar fasciitis.
Plantar fasciitis has a signature pattern: sharp heel pain with the first steps out of bed, easing after a few minutes of walking, then aching again after prolonged standing or activity. That morning first-step pain is the hallmark. If that describes you, the plantar fascia is almost certainly the driver.
Despite the name ending in itis, this is usually not an inflammatory problem. It is an overloaded tissue problem, much like a tendon issue. The fascia gets loaded beyond its capacity: new running volume, harder surfaces, worn shoes, weight gain, or feet that never got strong. Rest alone does not fix it because rest does not rebuild capacity.
The treatments with the best evidence are progressive loading of the foot and calf, not passive gadgets. Night splints, fancy orthotics, and endless calf stretching have limited track records. Heavy, slow calf raises and progressive foot loading do the actual remodeling work.

What is usually behind it.
Training load errors
New running mileage, harder surfaces, or more court time than the fascia was ready for. The number one driver.
Weak foot and calf
The fascia takes more stress when the calf and foot muscles do not share the load. Strength is protective.
Footwear changes
Abrupt switches in shoe support change fascia loading fast. Transitions need time.
Prolonged standing
Long days on hard floors, especially in unsupportive shoes, accumulate load all day.
Stiff ankle
Limited ankle motion forces the fascia to stretch more with every step. Restoring calf mobility redistributes the load.
Previous episodes
Plantar fasciitis that keeps returning never got the loading program that rebuilds the tissue. Each flare is a chance to do it right.
Plantar fasciitis care at Forever Forward.
Every plan starts with a full one-on-one assessment. No aides, no hand-offs, no 15-minute sessions. We find what is driving the problem, not just where it hurts, then build your plan around it.
Confirm the pattern
A full hour, one-on-one. We verify the classic first-step pattern, check calf strength and ankle mobility, and rule out nerve or stress-fracture mimics.
Load it progressively
Heavy slow calf raises, progressive foot loading, dosed so morning pain does not worsen week to week. This is the evidence-backed core of treatment.
Return to your miles
Running, court sports, long shifts on your feet. Your plan builds toward your actual demands so the heel holds up where you need it.

Straight answers.
Does physical therapy actually work for plantar fasciitis?
Yes, when it is the right PT. Progressive loading programs have the strongest evidence of anything short of time. Passive treatments alone, like ultrasound or endless stretching, do not have the same track record.
Should I get custom orthotics?
They can reduce symptoms as a bridge, but they do not rebuild the tissue. Strong feet beat supported feet long term. We build the foot up rather than propping it up forever.
How long does plantar fasciitis take to heal?
With proper loading, most cases improve steadily over 2 to 4 months. Cases that have lingered a year usually just never got a real loading program.
Can I keep running with plantar fasciitis?
Often yes with adjusted volume. We find the load your fascia tolerates today and build from there. Stopping entirely weakens the tissue and makes the return harder.
